Terrible Bridgeport Landlords!

What do you do when facing a difficult landlord?

So far, it seems like no matter where you go or even who you know, there's always a chance to run into a shitty fucking landlord, especially in Bridgeport! I've left one home due to a landlord not taking reasonability for a mice infestation, replacing any appliances that became faulty, and wanting to triple the rent at the beginning of the new year(2023). Thank god I was able to find an apartment before the year ended(2022) and it happened to be someone I know and have done business with before and even painting the apartment a while ago before I had my family. Never I thought/suspected I would go through or deal with the issues he has caused living here. Its been nothing but hell.. He complained about everything, to the wood on the floor creaking too much, me going up/down the stairs when i leave the apartment, and even my kids making too much noise while they play(during daytime hours). He personally told me verbally me and my family had to vacate and find another place and this is only the beginning of the year (January 2023). I thought this person was to be trusted but you only know someone until they show you their true colors. Long story short we had to find a place to live. He decided to not renew the lease for reason as: "We just don't want to renew the lease". We signed for a year lease but didn't get copies because their printer was "broken". After Stating he wants us to leave, after the 2 months he left a note stuck to my door stating I have till June 1st, 2023 to vacate the property. I confront him and explained we signed for a year and just tells me "no, I don't think so, you can stay as long as your looking for an apartment because we know how tough the market is, however were not going to renew the lease"

Okay no problem right?! Just got to look and find something no sweat on my bones. Now the market is tough with apartments averaging around $1,800+. Now there's just this issue with the fridge having a leak all the way back in January, which was getting replace with a home depot fridge but they happened to scratch the floors and home depot had to now pay for the floors while we lose out on a fridge. I told him on the 5th of July the fridge leaks has gotten worse and his response was just; "it's been very humid,,,,, however this will be the last month were extending to you guys". What a piece of shit, now he's trying to put my family in the street with no actual reason why he doesn't want to renew the lease but at this point we don't want to even been here with everything he has caused!!

Whelp on that note, on the hunt for a new apartment and find something better, I know not all Bridgeport landlords are scumbags, just 99% of them!
